Restaurants Struggle to Reopen Amidst COVID-19 Health Regulations

It’s no surprise that COVID-19 has put a lot of restaurants on the brink of extinction. In fact, a recent quote from Sean Kennedy, member of the National Restaurant Association, states that:

“3% of all restaurants have already announced they are closing their doors forever. That number could jump as high as 11% in just the next few weeks.”

Some restaurants around the country have already begun to reopen, knowing that continued closure of their establishment could very well put them in that 11%. Unfortunately, some restaurants who have reopened have done so with minimal address to the required health regulations by their state, and are seeing an increase in local COVID-19 cases, as well as public backlash from their communities:

This is just one of the many examples of a public reaction to restaurants not abiding by health regulations. These claims may seem to be subjective, but a recent report from CNN claims that at least 10 states have been seeing a new increase in COVID-19 cases, with quantified data coming from large medical institutions like Johns Hopkins.

Between the unregulated accommodations from businesses and ongoing political protests (large congregations of people), restaurants have to take extra action to ensure the safety of their customers, as well as their business. The 11% closure percentage could very easily escalate, if proper precautions aren’t taken to maintain healthy environments.

Customers also feel unsafe eating at establishments that fail to accommodate to health concerns:
